This dive site has a double reef, just as other dive sites in the south. You can easily enter the water here over some rocks.
The shallow plateau is sandy but soft coral starts to grow here, especially at the buoy (20 feet) you’ll see more and more coral. The drop off is at 36 feet, this reef descends briefly down to 75 feet. Here you will find a number of large formations of cobble coral. On the sandy bottom after the first reef you will find sand eels and often eagle rays.
The roof of the second reef is 72 feet, in the south and north even more shallow. The coral on the reef is beautiful and very healthy, with lots of different corals and sponges, at 105 feet you will find a large elephant ear sponge. The reef runs down steeply to 131 feet. Behind it is a sandy bottom.
Do you want to visit Salt City? In Bonaire Dive Guide you can find more information and detailed directions. Convenient, as many dive sites on the South coast are off road and hard to find. The guide is also practical as a reference during your dive trip, and safe: leaving your mobile phone in the car during a dive is not wise.
