This is a wonderful place for snorkeling or shallow diving, but entering the water is not easy here, there is so much coral you will quickly hurt yourself or damage the reef. Therefore, especially with billow, you better dive from a boat.
Here you will find huge coral formations and remarkably large sponges. The best depth for diving is between 20 and 46 feet, but the reef extends to 141 feet. At the shallow plateau you’ll probably see groups of squid. At 20 feet you will find a huge pillar coral.
Do you want to visit Petrie’s Pillar? In Bonaire Dive Guide you can find more information and detailed directions of all dive spots and snorkeling sites. Convenient, as many dive sites on the North coast are off road and hard to find. The guide is also practical as a reference and safe: leaving your mobile phone in the car during a dive is not wise.
