This dive site is only accessible by boat because of the houses built on the side. Here is a shallow coral plateau where you can snorkel fantasticly.
The reef begins to slope down from the buoy at 16 feet, it is not very compact, sometimes you can see sand, soft and hard coral is mixed. Here you can see many different reef fish and especially turtles. This reef stops around 102 feet.
However, there is another reef from 121 feet, not a compact reef but a sandy bottom with different groups of coral. This is a place for experienced divers. Between the two reefs you will sometimes see caribbean stingrays and nurse sharks. At the second reef you will sometimes suddenly find a strong current, keep an eye on that!
Do you want to visit Chez Hines? In Bonaire Dive Guide you can find more information and detailed directions. Convenient, as many dive sites on the South coast are off road and hard to find. The guide is also practical as a reference and safe: leaving your mobile phone in the car during a dive is not wise.
