This is one of the dive sites on our south coast where you’ll find a double reef. The first reef is suitable for any diver, but the second, deeper reef is only recommended to experienced divers. The beach here consists mainly of stone and coral debris and you can easily enter the water. Please be aware of a rocky outcrop just above or below water.
The drop off starts at 26 feet. The shallow plateau in front of it is covered by soft and hard corals and three species of anemones. Here you see a lot of young fish. The first reef gently slopes down to 105 feet, after that you will find a sandy bottom.
At the second reef you will find lots of soft coral, but also many different types of hard coral and beautiful sponges. The giant barrel sponges on this reef are rare on Bonaire and huge. Around the roof of the second reef you will find larger fish.
Do you want to visit Aquarius? In Bonaire Dive Guide you can find more information and detailed directions. Convenient, as many dive sites on the South coast are off road and hard to find. The guide is also practical as a reference and safe: leaving your mobile phone in the car during a dive is not wise.
